About Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a independent, politically impartial movement of people working to protect the basic human rights of individuals worldwide. The organization focuses its research and action on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination. Its members come from a wide range of backgrounds and political and religious beliefs.
Amnesty International provides concrete actions that you can take that have the potential to make a difference. You need not be part of a group to become involved: there are many letter-writing opportunities and action networks that you can join.

An Invitation
I was an Amnesty group leader and student group adviser for a number of years in Massachusetts but haven’t seemed to get into becoming a group member again here in Minnesota, in spite of a few attempts.
But I wouldn’t mind getting together with friends for some low-key letter writing and keeping informed about human rights issues. I could host and organize the first few get-togethers, and we could see how it goes. Let me know if you’re interested.
